Impotence

Nitrate (NO) production in the penis is a precondition for the initiation and maintenance of an erection. Carnosine is a natural substrate for NO.

Nitrate (NO) production in the penis is a precondition for the initiation and maintenance of an erection. Carnosine is a natural substrate for NO; in other words, the body produces NO from carnosine.

  • In this case, supplementation with carnosine automatically improves potency. Erectile dysfunction (penile erection failure = erectile dysfunction = impotence) is the permanent or a temporary inability of the male to achieve or maintain the erection of the penis for a sufficient time, which is essential for intercourse.
  • Erectile dysfunction (ED) is one of the main sexual dysfunction in males. This disorder used to be called impotence, but today we prefer the term erectile dysfunction, which better captures the essence of the problem. To achieve an erection, the perfect interplay of the psyche, hormones, nerve reflexes and smooth muscle cells is needed, and any disruption of this balance leads to failure.
  • The number of men affected by erectile dysfunction increases with age. According to the most famous epidemiological study (Massachusetts Male Aging Study), which took place in the United States, 52% of men between 40-70 years of age are affected by some form of erectile dysfunction. It is reported that erectile dysfunction affects over 100 million men in the world. In the Czech Republic, it is about 500,000 to 800,000 men and the number is increasing annually by about 40,000.
  • According to a representative survey conducted by the STEM/MARK agency with 3,500 men in the Czech Republic, every other man aged 35 to 65 years admits to some form of erectile dysfunction. How is it then really with the causes of erectile dysfunction? We can speak about the psychogenic causes in 20% of cases. In 80% of cases, however, the cause of erectile failure is an organic failure, i.e. a particular disease affecting a component indispensable to erections (vessels, nerves).
